    Heron Books are pleased to be running a book stall at the annual Emma Martin Lecture organised by Bristol Humanists at the Unitarian Meeting Hall in Brunswick Square.

    Dr Sarah Chaney of the Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary University will give a talk entitled Am I Normal? Why normal people don't exist.

    We will be selling copies of Sarah Chaney's book, Am I Normal? as well as a range of other related titles.

  • Book Stall at Alice Oswald/Kim Moore Poetry Reading

    We are thrilled to be running the book stall at a reading by two of our favourite poets, Alice Oswald and Kim Moore.  The reading is a National Poetry Day event, organised by Poetry by Heart and the Bristol Poetry Institute and held at the University's Priory Road Lecture Theatre.

  • Poetry in Herons: Carrie Etter & Emma Jones

  • Benjamin Markovits – A reading and conversation

    We will be selling books at this reading and conversation with the author Benjamin Markovits, organised by the University of Bristol. Markovits grew up in Texas, London and Berlin. He is the prizewinning author of eleven novels including Either Side of Winter, You Don't Have to Live Like This and Christmas in Austin. He lives in London and teaches creative writing at Royal Holloway. Wednesday 6th December, 5pm G.H01, Arts Complex, 3-5 Woodland Rd Free entry, all welcome, no booking required. Pop into the shop to sign up and pick up a copy of the book or send us an email to reserve one. In January, we are easing in with The Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Eugenides. We'll meet on the second Thursday of every month at 6.30 upstairs in The Lansdown pub. If you already own the book, we ask that you buy a different one of equivalent value.
